Middle School:

Yellowstone Outdoor Education Camp

Explore Yellowstone National Park through a designed curriculum that includes a hands on and in depth study of our nations first national park.

The Yellowstone Outdoor Education Camp is a 6-day. 5 night stay in Yellowstone Park. Students will take daily hikes and tours of the Park's numerous offerings.

Areas to be studied and discusses include:

  • Geothermal features
  • Park and trail etiquette
  • Geology
  • Water ecology
  • Maps and compass reading
  • Tree identification
  • National Park ideas
  • Ten essentials of hiking
  • R.O.P.E.S.
  • Fires of Yellowstone
  • Impact of Tourism
  • Significanc of the park to future scientific research

 

Additional activities will include swinmming, fishing, and "campfire" ranger talks.

Green River Watershed Expedition

A 6 day, 5 night field expedition along the Green River of Wyoming. We will begin at the Green River Lakes and follow the river below Fontenelle Dam, to Seeds ka dees Wildlife Refuge. Each day of the trip will focus on a defferent aspect of multiple use interests. Guest speakers (resource managers, ranchers, local historian, geologist, outfitters, county commissioners) from each interest group will meet us at pre-designated sites along the River.

  • Conservation of wild resources
  • Community/Culture settlements
  • Fisheries, riparian habitat specialists

Instructors:
Elaine Ullery - Pinedale Middle School science teacher
Teton Science School Staff: Sue Perrin, Project Wet State Director, and two TSS graduate students
Students:
Current enrollement in grades 6 - 8 at Pinedale Middle School
Limit: 6 - 12 students.

In partnership with Teton Science Schooll, conduct "Project Wet" curriculum activities, labs investigations and reserch as we travel down the Green River. Students will camp out at a new site at the end of each day. Modes of travel between site will be by TSS vans.

Elementary: Pinedale Adventure School

Pinedale Elementary Grades K-5
6-Week Session, June 17th - July 25th
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon, Monday through Thursday

The Pinedale Adventure School will provide skill development and enrichments for up to 80 students, grades  
K-5. Students will work in skill groups for language arts and math skills and in multiage groups for enrichments in science, social studies, physical education, and fine arts. Classes will be developed each week around a central theme with opportunities for skill development and enrichment for all students. Learning to use and enjoy various community resources will also be a focus of the program.
